Greek
Island Hopping
Are
you ready for a taste of the Greek Cycladic
Islands? We have designed a 10-day Greek Island
Hopping program that has it all! We will take
you through islands with history, architecture,
music, great wine tasting and of course unsurpassed
beaches. Our Greek Island Hopping Program
has a bit of everything so that everyone on
you yacht journey will leave with a smile.
Once you depart the marina in Athens your
first stop is the lemon-scented island of
Poros. Her close proximity to Athens makes
her an ideal break after your first few hours
of sailing. This is a great opportunity for
a swim and perhaps a bite to eat at a local
taverna, serving the days fresh catch. While
you are in Poros you can also have your first
taste of Greece’s ancient era by making your
way over to the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon,
who funnily enough was the God of the Sea!
Hydra is your next stop and all who visit
her say she should not be missed. Her scenery
will capture you from the moment you enter
her harbour. You will feel as though you have
taken a step back in time as you stroll through
her paved streets and beautiful architecture
and stunning scenery. Hydra has inspired many
artists because of her intense high cliffs,
dark blue waters and majestic white houses
that are filled with wildflowers. Hydra is
also unique as there is no motorized transport
on her island – only donkeys giving her that
extra special touch of peacefulness.
The natural progression from Hydra is the
island that has it all – Milos. Milos boasts
over 30 beaches, most of which can only be
reached by boat. Her beaches are a mix of
sand, pebble, pumice and harsh rock and her
waters are a range of blues that need to seen
to be believed. Be sure to explore her wonderful
cave swimming while you are sailing from cove
to cove. If you’re not too tired after all
that, then why not enjoy dinner with friends
at one of the seaside tavernas followed by
a cocktail or two at her trendy bars.
Milos is one of the islands considered by
Greeks that must be seen by boat – to really
capture all her beauty. As an island she looks
as though you are standing on the moon with
her harshly cut rock, sand and stone but from
a boat, she lets you see her real beauty of
underwater caves, private natural swimming
pools with crystal blue waters. The clarity
of her waters has been estimated at well over
40meters!
The up and coming island of Folegandros is
one is becoming more popular each summer.
She has not yet developed the madness of tourism
and this is why you will love her. You will
find a classic Cycladic island in its original
form. Locals going about their daily routines,
travelers that have ventured off the beaten
track, white houses, balconies with fresh
colorful flowers in ceramic pots and a backdrop
of barren mountainside. If you love diving,
Folegandros also boasts some fantastic diving
spots. Folegandros is fast become the island
of the artists with an up and coming artist
colony. If you are painter, you will be inspired
by her colors, if you not – you soon will
become one after seeing her.
Santorini, or Thira as the locals call her,
is an island that everyone has heard stories
of and everyone wants a piece of. Her volcanic
history and her stunning landscape give her
an element of magic that mesmerizes all who
visit her. That’s why so many couples get
married while visiting Santorini! This island
is harsh, her black cliffs and white houses
are so high that you almost feel you can catch
a passing cloud! Her beaches are deep blue
waters and a blend of black, red and white
pebbles. It is worth hiring a car or a scooter
and exploring her three main towns. Don’t
forget to catch one of her brilliant sunsets
while sipping a cocktail! Santorini is home
to many love story movies including the famous
“Love Story”.
If you aren’t in love when you arrive to Santorini
– you will be when you are leaving. If you
are in love but maybe have lost your path
a bit – you will find it again in Santorini!
She has exquisite restaurants and taverns.
Many new fusion foods Mediterranean, Middle
Eastern and European foods are tested out
in the restaurants of santorini. The birth
of “Slow Foods” an organization of chefs that
are battling against our fast food life started
in Santorini and hold each year their annual
cook out so that people from around the world
can see that even good food can be prepared
fast.
Ios, the island whose reputation for nightlife
seems to have surpassed that of Mykonos. Her
narrow pathways are bustling with tourists;
lined with souvenir stores and her bars and
clubs are host to some of the best European
dj’s. Don’t let her lively reputation fool
you because she has some lovely sandy beaches,
which are a nice change from the usual pebbly
beaches of the islands and for the historians
in you, the locals say that Ios is the burial
place of Homer. You may even see him walking
the streets and enjoying a glass of fine red
wine made locally.
Paros is a bustle of energy and fun. Once
you reach her marina take a stroll up to her
windmill and enjoy watching the world go by.
The best part of Paros however, is her north
coast. Naousa has become the playground for
the famous, with her beautiful beaches, cafes,
bars and social life. Many have compared Naousa
to the French Riviera so why not take the
boat up to the north coast and settle in your
own beach chair with cocktail in hand listening
to the latest European music coming from the
nearby beach bar. Or have your captain take
you to shore and visit the wonderful Naousa
winery home to some of the best wines of Greece
If you love architecture, great wine and fresh
local delicacies – you will love Syros. Her
history is a blend of Greek and Roman history
and the locals take great pride in preserving
the fine houses detailed with artwork and
metals. Syros is a great island to enjoy with
friends over a wonderful meal and local wine.
The island of Syros is the capital of the
Cycladic Island cluster and her combination
of Greek-Roman architecture gives her a majestic
feeling. She is home to many international
fashion show launches where the likes of Versace,
D&G, Calvin Klein and others have launched
their spring, summer or winter collections
on the islands of Syros, often inspired by
the islands beauty that is reflected in both
their materials and colors used in their designs.
The island of Kythnos is the final stop call
before heading back to Athens. Her harbour
is lined with traditional Greek fishing boats,
local cafes and small stores selling hand
made crafts. Her beaches are best reached
by boat and her waters are clear and sparkling.
She will leave you with a lovely taste of
the real Greece.
It is now time to make our way back to Athens
and either continue your journey through mainland
Greece or head back home to tell your friends
what a fantastic time you had on your Greek
Island Hopping 10 day cruise. By this time
you will have rolls and rolls of film, capturing
every great moment on board and on land. We
hope you have enjoyed our walk through journey
of our Greek Island Hopping – Cycladic Dream
experience and we also hope to welcome you
