ESSENTIAL NAVIGATION WITH DAY SKIPPER PRACTICAL: 7DAYS
RYA Day Skipper Practical is a course for those who are ready for more responsibility. It gives you the skills to skipper your own boat safely and confidently anywhere in the Mediterranean, Baltic, or other non-tidal waters.
If you're planning a flotilla holiday or bareboat charter holiday, this is the course for you. With tuition from our highly qualified Instructors, this course has long been one of our most popular. In five days we'll teach you the skills to skipper a cruising yacht
Although this is a more demanding course than Competent Crew, we'll make time for swimming, sunbathing, and a few good bottles of wine along the way.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Day Skipper Non-Tidal teaches you the skills you?ll need to skipper a yacht in non-tidal waters, by day.
It's a fairly intense course, covering practical pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat-handling, including 'Med'-mooring - everything you need to become a confident skipper. Just think how you'll feel bringing your own yacht into the harbour...
COURSE ESSENTIALS
DAY SKIPPER PRACTICAL WITH DAY SKIPPER SHORE-BASED: 9 DAYS
This is the more traditional option and includes the full RYA Day Skipper Shore based course. It's ideal for those who want to feel that they have all the requisite theory at their fingertips before getting on board. The full shore based course is also essential preparation for anyone who intends to sail in tidal as well as non-tidal waters.
The theory course runs Thursday to Sunday, with arrival on Wednesday evening, and covers everything you need to be a knowledgeable and safe skipper of a small yacht by day. You'll stay in a hotel with a pool on our delightful island for four nights, giving you a chance to relax and explore as well as learn.
On Sunday evening you will move onto your yacht to continue the practical element of the course, completing your Day Skipper Practical course.
Students who successfully pass both elements can obtain a tidal endorsement to their Practical certificate by completing an additional two days practical training at any RYA recognised centre in a tidal area.
COURSE ESSENTIALS
ADD A RADIO OPERATOR'S COURSE TO BE READY FOR CHARTERING.
Some countries now demand that yacht skippers have a radio licence in addition to their skipper's licence.
Why not make the most of your tuition time by tacking on a Marine Radio Operator's course on the weekend before or after your practical course? Please contact us to find out availability.
Radio course: Special price of 115 € when taken before or after a practical course with us
COMPETENT CREW, ESSENTIAL NAVIGATION AND DAY SKIPPER PRACTICAL: 12 DAYS
This is a very popular option as it makes the most of a two-week holiday.
Joining your yacht on Sunday you spend the first five days taking a Competent Crew course (although the instructor will also introduce you to simple navigation).
You'll follow this with a weekend studying navigation and seamanship onshore, staying in a hotel for Saturday night. This gives you a chance to recharge your batteries after a week at sea.
Returning to the yacht on Sunday night you will complete your RYA Day Skipper course over the next five days.
It's also sometimes possible to book a full 12 days sailing, taking the Essential Navigation course online before you come to us. Please contact us if you are interested in this option.
